Résumé : This thesis concerns the theoretical study of quantum key distribution (QKD) and quantum error correction (QEC) implemented with bosonic systems.
In the first chapter, an analytical bound on the asymptotic secret key rate of continuous-variable QKD protocols is derived. This quantity broadly quantifies the security of a protocol and is thus useful to compare various protocols.
In Chapter 2, a new two-mode bosonic code generalising cat codes, the 2T-qutrit, is introduced and studied. The code inherits some properties of the 2T group underlying its construction.
Chapter 3 then presents a general construction of QEC codes such that the encoded information can be easily manipulated to perform certain logical operations. In particular, it introduces another two-mode generalisation of cat qubits, wherein all Clifford gates are implemented with Gaussian unitaries. The C-Z and T gates can in addition be obtained with quartic gates, thus providing a universal gate set for this code.
