Resumé: Problem: Thesis project is meant to address limitations and difficulties in stimulating the left ventricular chamber of the heart. Accessing the left ventricle is a complicated procedure where the stimulating lead should be inserted through a ventricular vein to the vicinity of the left ventricular free wall. The advancement of the lead is limited by the decreasing diameter of the vein. Moreover, the limited number of electrodes in existing leads makes it more difficult to find the optimal site for stimulation and to avoid accidental stimulation of phrenic nerve which most often accompanies left ventricular stimulation. Even after positioning the lead in the optimal position, in many cases, an inhibition of cardiac response in the chosen position was reported which requires another surgical intervention in order to reposition the lead. Objectives: Development of a system capable of solving the problems presented here and further using it to perform pre-clinical tests on animals in order to validate its efficiency on a real theatre.
