Resumé:
Embedded in the ARS project the present doctoral research project aims to establish innovative
algorithms for describing and manipulating singing style. Style description targeted in the ARS
project connects musical and linguistic contexts with interpretative singing parameters (phoneme
and note timing, intonation and intensity contours, voice quality effects) chosen by the respective
performer. A central constraint of the project is that the final style description is required to be
human readable such that is can be used for musicological studies, or in the case of singing synthesis
or singing transformation, can be manipulated by a human user so that meaningful variations of a
given style template extracted from a given singing performance can be created.
