Resumé: The objective of this research project is to use blockchains to create a wireless, decentralized and secure IoT environment with resource-constrained devices. The main challenges of the project are the evaluation of the efficiency of the existing consensus protocols for an IoT scenario and the proposal of innovative techniques to improve the security, privacy and efficiency of the Internet of Things. The research project consists of 4 main stages that correspond to the challenges expected throughout the duration of the activities. By the end of the period abroad, we expect to obtain a proposal for a set of consensus techniques, algorithms and protocols that are capable of improving the safety and reliability of a blockchain-based IoT system. The project aims to implement the proposals in a prototype of a real wireless device system that benefits from the security and trust provided by the blockchain.
