Resumé: Internet of Things (IoT) applications that run in the IoT-edge-cloud continuum commonly depend on the composition of resources and system services across multiple providers, which is often hampered due to heterogeneity (e.g., diverse APIs, protocols, data formats, topologies). This makes interoperability in the IoT-edge-cloud continuum an essential problem for which effective solutions are required. The proposed PhD research will focus on introducing runtime interoperability and portability solutions for automated composition of resources and system services in the dynamic IoT-edge-cloud continuum. The solution will address interoperability and portability at the data, service, application and system levels, targeting interoperability coverage improvement and increased automation in comparison to state-of-the-art solutions. This PhD work will include developing a prototype implementation of the proposed solution and performing a thorough experimental evaluation.
